Technology Catalog Scoring System

Newtrient 9-Point Technology Scoring System

Every technology is evaluated based on nine criteria developed by Newtrient’s Technology Advancement Team (TAT) of highly experienced experts in manure management technology fields. This 9-Point Technology Score indicates the status and assists in tracking the progress of the technology in the key areas of commercial viability, economic & industry value and transparency & interaction.

If you are a dairy farmer…

  • It means you can identify technologies that have shared information with the Newtrient TAT.
  • It means the Newtrient TAT has assigned points where justified based on the information shared.
  • It does not mean the Newtrient TAT has endorsed the technology.

If you are a vendor…

  • It means you can share information with the Newtrient TAT to help dairy farmers gain insights about your technology.
  • It doesn’t mean the Newtrient TAT is endorsing your technology or judging its performance.

Newtrient Recognized Designation

The Newtrient Business Team assigns the Newtrient Recognized designation to a technology that demonstrates high marks on the 9-Point Technology Criteria and about which the Business Team is comfortable with what the technology does what it claims to do; contacting the vendor directly may be helpful in your search for the right technology for your farm and business goals.

If you are a dairy farmer…

  • It means contacting the vendor may be helpful in your search for the right technology for your farm and business goals.
  • It does not mean the technology will work on every farm or address each farmer’s particular challenges and business goals.
  • It does not mean you should exclude technologies that have not received this designation in your search.

If you are a vendor…

  • It means your technology can become Newtrient Recognized by sharing information that substantiates it does what you claim it will do.
  • It does not mean Newtrient is recommending or endorsing your technology over others.

Newtrient Emerging Technology Designation

The Newtrient Business Team assigns this designation to a technology that appears to be headed in the right direction based on their 9-Point Score. An Emerging Technology is a technology that has not yet met all the criteria of the "Newtrient Recognized" designation but that Newtrient feels is promising and appears to be heading in this direction.

We will continue to evaluate emerging technologies and vendors as well as reevaluate existing technologies as they become more refined.

If you are a dairy farmer…

  • It means this technology is showing positive momentum and merits watching.
  • It means this technology has not yet met all the criteria to achieve Newtrient Recognized designation.
  • It does not mean this technology isn’t ideal for your farm and goals.

If you are a vendor…

  • It means you have the opportunity to share more information with the Newtrient TAT and Business Team regarding how this technology helps dairy farmers meet their business and nutrient management goals.
  • It does not mean this technology cannot achieve Newtrient Recognized designation in the future.

  • It does not mean:
    • The information is invalid
    • Newtrient is judging this technology
    • You shouldn’t call the vendor to find out more about this technology

If you are a vendor…

  • It means you can contact Newtrient to verify this information and/or supply us with additional information to share with dairy farmers.
