    The patented technology is based on flowing the target liquid waste through our patented submerged electric arc system between two electrodes. The arc decomposes the liquid molecules into atoms as it forms a plasma around the tips of the electrodes at about 10,000°F / 5,500 C. MagneGas® is created as the decomposed atoms rise to the surface and naturally forms into a gas.

    MagneGas® is a cost competitive synthetic gas made from many liquid wastes such as sewage, sludge, animal manure, glycerin, used antifreeze, some oil based liquids and waste water.

     

    MagneGas® Sterilization:

    When used in sterilization mode the system is intended to sterilize target liquid wastes such as sewage, agricultural wastes, leachates, or any effluent where eliminating bacteriological activity is beneficial to convert the waste liquid into a fertilizer or Class A waste. This results in the production of MagneGas, and the same quantity of sterilized liquid, in this mode the liquid is retained but completely sterilized. This process meets EPA standards to bring the liquid waste from a Class B waste to a safer Class A.

    NOTE: There are multiple technologies that that are used as part of integrated manure management systems and yet are not manure management types on their own. The impact of these technologies on their own would be minimal or very difficult to quantify.

    MagneGas Corporation a leading clean technology company in the renewable resources and environmental solutions industries, announced that it has formally launched a USDA sterilization pilot program at a leading dairy farm based in Bowling Green, FL. The primary purpose of the pilot is to evaluate the efficacy of the MagneGas patented plasma arc sterilization process for cow manure. The pilot is jointly funded by the USDA through a $432,000 USDA grant and provides MagneGas Corporation a unique opportunity to further validate the sterilization process.

     

    Based on published data, the system sterilizes the waste stream but does not reduce its volume. The 300 kW unit can sterilize approximately 95,894 gallons of 0.8% TS waste per 22 hour period, this represents the solids of approx 267 cows. The system would use approximately 6,600 kWh of electricity ($594/day @ $0.09/kWh) and produce approximately 16,300 cubic feet of MagneGas the value of which is not know at this time.

     

    Newtrient will continue to work with MagneGas to further refine the cost and performance information as more information becomes available and as new commercial dairy installations come on line.
