HELIO PUR TECHNOLOGIES offers innovative, economical and durable solutions for the treatment, reuse and recycling of wastewater and pollutants it contains.
Helio Pure’s solutions are based on a new technology of wastewater treatment called “Bio-Solar Purification” (BSP).
BSP technology transforms wastewater from a domestic, agricultural or industrial source in clean water, complying with regulatory requirements or compatible with internal quality standards. The water treated can be recycled, reused or discharged into sensitive areas. This technology uses sun and CO2 to treat and purify wastewater with no chemical addition and without evaporation losses or production of concentrated secondary effluent. BSP technology is implemented in extrapolable modular facilities and needs low-energy and little or no civil engineering.
HelioPure plants are intended primarily for users of private sectors (individuals, hotels, campsites, farmers, industry) or public (small towns, communities) eager to make savings of water by recycling, conserving scarce or expensive resources or rehabilitate natural aquatic environments while maintaining the development of their business.
Given the scarcity and growth in demand of good quality fresh water resources , HelioPure aims at recycling the major constituents of living matter (water, carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus), conserving natural resources and restore good quality water supplies.
Given the deterioration of surface and underground natural aquatic environments, HelioPure’s goal is to limit any discharge to these environments by recycling and reusing wastewater at source by the user, to also limit water transport, which are high energy consumers.
Facing water resources scarcity and degradation coupled with an increasing demand during sunny and dry agricultural season, agriculture wastewater reuse is becoming unavoidable in many countries and regions suffering permanent or seasonal water stress.HelioPure® processes offer new, cost effective and sustainable solutions for agricultural wastewater reuse, especially for soilless agriculture, intensive livestock and aquaculture. HelioPure® solutions allow efficient treatment of residual organic matters, nutrients, micropollutants (pesticides, metals, phytosanitary products, veterinary drugs) and also hazardous microorganisms from plants and animals. Soilless agriculture, intensive livestock and aquaculture wastewater treatment and recycling At the outlet of HelioPure® processes, photosynthetic biomass can be separated and recovered as organic fertilizer, animal feed (protein rich) or energy (biogas). Clean water can be recycled in nutrients solutions, irrigation, aquaculture, watering or aquifer refilling Oxygen enriched air can be recovered and used for aeration or oxygenation of water.
Technology Strengths, Weaknesses and Critical Indicators
Anaerobic Digester Associated Technology:
NOTE: There are several technology types that are used as part of an integrated manure management system that includes an anaerobic digester and are not applicable to manure management in other cases. The impact of these technologies on the critical indicators are represented as those of an entire anaerobic digester system.

HelioPure has not been evaluated using Newtrient's 9-point scoring process because, although their process appears to be suited for use on dairy manure, Newtrient is not aware of any current dairy based projects in North America. HelioPure has completed testing at the Arizona State University and is currently looking for a dairy operation to scale up the system.
