Senior Vice President, Engineering & Business Development
Jim Wallace holds the position of Senior Vice President, Engineering & Business Development for Newtrient.
Prior to joining Newtrient, he was Global Product Manager for McLanahan Corporation’s Nutrient Separation Business. In this role, he was responsible for the design, development and commercialization of a membrane-based nutrient separation platform that incorporated anaerobic digestion, ultrafiltration, air stripping/absorption and reverse osmosis. Jim’s keen interest in optimizing the interface between water quality and renewable energy with business and technology development has been a common thread throughout his twenty-eight year career. He has led large-scale, complex projects including the startup and management of a new environmental business for EQ – The Environmental Quality Company. This business startup required technology development and transfer to successfully implement a process for the reclamation of clean water and propylene glycol from spent aircraft deicing fluid. Jim also co-owned a business focused on creating new and innovative technologies to improve anaerobic digestion efficiency and nutrient recovery and has served as a consulting engineer to the agriculture and renewable energy sectors in his time as a principal engineer with NTH Consultants.
Jim holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Purdue University, a M.S. in civil engineering (environmental focus) from Wayne State University and a Ph.D. in biosystems and agricultural engineering from Michigan State University. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member in Michigan State University’s Department of Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering.
