Dana Kirk is an Assistant Professor in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU). In addition to his teaching and outreach responsibilities, Dana is the manager of the Anaerobic Digester Research and Education Center (ADREC).
ADREC is a collaborative effort between MSU and industry to provide a continuum of research, professional development, and outreach support for waste-to-energy systems. Applied research at ADREC includes bench top, pilot scale, and commercial anaerobic digestion systems used to evaluate feedstocks, optimize performance, and integrate technologies. Dana has overseen the design, construction, and operation of three commercial scale digesters and numerous demonstration and pilot scale systems.
Prior to joining MSU, he worked as a consulting engineer for dairy and livestock farms around the Midwest providing support for permitting, site selection, permit compliance, as well as waste treatment system and storage design.
