Certarus – Virtual Natural Gas Pipeline
Your Natural Gas Virtual Pipeline
Certarus is a rapidly growing North American company that is providing low carbon energy solutions through a fully integrated compressed natural gas (CNG) platform. With the largest fleet in the industry, the company operates a virtual natural gas pipeline that simplifies energy delivery by safely transporting CNG and renewable natural gas (RNG) for the agriculture, energy, and industrial sectors. By displacing diesel and propane fuels, Certarus helps customers lower operating costs and improve environmental performance. The company supports the growing RNG sector by helping customers capture stranded biogas and delivering it to pipeline injection sites so they can get their product to market.
Certarus provides virtual pipelines for biogas when it cannot get access or it is uneconomic to build physical pipelines. They have one of the largest fleets in North America to support all states and provinces to deliver biogas to injection locations. They also offer compression and decanting to provide a total solution while reducing the CAPEX required to get a project off the ground. They also own injection sites and are working to expand their presence in centralized injection sites to assist new projects.
Technology Strengths, Weaknesses and Critical Indicators
Anaerobic Digester Associated Technology:
NOTE: There are several technology types that are used as part of an integrated manure management system that includes an anaerobic digester and are not applicable to manure management in other cases. The impact of these technologies on the critical indicators are represented as those of an entire anaerobic digester system.
- Long usable life and can be run reliably
- Creates energy and generates environmental credits
- Requires proper preparation of the feedstock
- Requires other technologies for energy utilization
- Requires other technologies for digestate handling
- Proper feeding & system monitoring is required to avoid system downtime
- Proven technology for odor control, GHG reduction and pathogen reduction
Newtrient will continue to work with Certarus to further refine the cost and performance information as more information becomes available and as new commercial dairy installations come on line.
