Chem Process Systems – Evaporation

Zero Liquid Effluent Discharge System

About the Company:

Over the years, Chem Process has carved a niche for itself as a major provider of heat transfer and vacuum related process equipment. When it comes to offering an array of customised solutions to chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, oil refinery, power generation and water treatment, Chem Process are the experts. Chem Process constantly strives to adopt improved process technology in order to accommodate new equipment and methods into Chem Process existing plant structures such that Chem Process product output is specifically designed for its ultimate location.

About the Solution:

Large quantities of industrial waste waters/effluents with strong contaminations of different compositions are generated in the production and processes of almost all industrial sectors. These waste waters have to be treated before they can be discharged into the specified permissible system. Hence an efficient and environmentally friendly waste water treatment is required.Chem Process partners with you to provide the best solutions for treatment of industrial waste waters. As one of the leading designers and manufacturers of thermal and mechanical process equipment with core competence in evaporation, crystallization, vacuum and heat transfer, Chem Process offers custom made plants with additional upstream or downstream process steps. Suitable combinations of processes in Chem Process plants achieve optimum results for the recovery of water and valuable products.

Solution Strengths, Weaknesses and Critical Indicators

Evaporation Technologies:

  • Use heat to produce either manure with less water or dried manure solids
  • Reduce water in manure using a series of evaporators or recompressed process generated steam to evaporate water from liquid slurries—energy is supplied either by purchased fuel and/or waste heat from other processes
  • Systems that dry separated solids use either a belt or drum to evaporate water from separated solids—energy is supplied either by purchased fuel, electricity and/or waste heat from other processes
  • Compounds are released as the water is driven off (i.e. ammonia, hydrogen sulfide), this often requires additional treatment such as condensation of the water and/or scrubbing of the chemicals
  • Requires purchased energy and costs are a significant concern leading to a trade-off between input costs and gains in liquid concentration and transportation/market of by-products
  • Proven technology for nitrogen recovery, phosphorous recovery, storage reduction, GHG reduction, odor control and pathogen reduction

Newtrient Comments/Opinions:

  Evaporation and Drying Technologies:

  • Uses heat to produce either manure with less water or dried manure solids
  • Systems that reduce water in manure use a series of evaporators to sequentially evaporate water from liquid slurries—energy is supplied either by purchased fuel and/or waste heat from other processes
  • Systems that dry separated solids use either a belt or drum to evaporate water from separated solids—energy is supplied either by purchased fuel, electricity and/or waste heat from other processes
  • Chemicals are released with the water (i.e. ammonia, hydrogen sulfide), and this often requires additional treatment such as condensation of the water and/or scrubbing of the chemicals
  • The requirement for purchased energy and costs are a significant concern leading to a tradeoff between input costs and gains in liquid concentration and transportation/market of by-products
