Span Tech Fabric Building Systems – Compost & Fertilizer Buildings
Healthier • Cleaner • Drier
Hawkeye Steel Products, Inc. manufactures equipment and systems for animal agricultural markets and fabric buildings for a wide range of agricultural, commercial and industrial applications. Hawkeye Steel traces its origin to 1903.
Span-Tech® is a fabric building line which was internally developed starting in 1995. These buildings are popular for storage of corrosive materials such as fertilizer, salt and composting animal wastes. They can also be used for storage of any kind of equipment or materials, grain storage, hay storage, equine riding arenas and for animal production including cattle feeding. Open span widths (with no interior supports) of up to 200 feet are manufactured.
CompostingComposting is a economical and trouble-free way to dispose of moralities and deal with higher dry matter wastes. Span-Tech buildings solve many of the problems people have with proper management of a compost pile. Their buildings provide an excellent environment for composting, while keeping cost low and processing high. Fertilizer Span-Tech has over two decades of experience providing buildings for applications with very harsh indoor environments including salt, fertilizer and chemical storage. Our expertise in producing buildings designed for corrosive environments allow us to provide solutions which are cost effective and which withstand these harsh environments.
Technology Strengths, Weaknesses and Critical Indicators
NOTE: There are multiple technologies that are used as part of integrated manure management systems and yet are not manure management types on their own. The impact of these technologies on their own would be minimal or very difficult to quantify.
General Support & Other:
- Can be an integral part of many manure management systems
- Most projects have at least some equipment that supports operations of the main technology
- This technology is not evaluated on its own, the NEAT Matrix for this technology is neutral unless utilized with other technologies.
Newtrient will continue to work with Span-Tech to further refine the cost and performance information as more information becomes available and as new commercial dairy, fertilizer and compost installations come on line.
