Venture – CO2 Recovery System

Engineering & Construction

About the Company:

Venture Engineering & Construction, Inc. provides high-value consultancy, engineering, and project management services to the world’s energy, power, and process industries. Venture is a leader in alternative energy solutions such as landfill gas (LFG) to energy plants, manure to RNG, cogeneration facilities, and waste-to-energy plants. Venture’s patent-pending gas conditioning systems lead the way, providing extremely effective removal of harmful contaminants such as siloxanes, NMOCs and H2S from Landfill Gas (LFG) at the best value.

Venture will travel the country to meet your engineering needs, and it is this willingness to serve the customer that has made Venture one of the fastest growing engineering and construction firms in the United States.

About the Solution:

Venture Engineering & Construction, Inc. is proud to introduce the next evolution in biogas value creation: The Venture CO2 Recovery System.

If you're operating a landfill gas (LFG) or other biogas to RNG upgrading facility, you're likely venting or flaring your CO2 tail gas and missing out on a major revenue and tax credit opportunity. Venture Engineering & Construction, Inc. now offers a turnkey CO2 recovery system that transforms your waste into profit.

The Untapped Revenue Stream in Your RNG Plant

Until now, the biogas upgrading industry has focused on one product: Renewable Natural Gas. The CO2-rich tail gas, representing 40-50% of your raw biogas volume, has been treated as a waste stream - vented, flared, and considered a cost of doing business.

Recent federal legislation, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) of 2025, has transformed the economics of carbon capture. Now, you can turn your largest waste stream into two new, high-value products.

At one of Venture’s flagship projects in Humacao, Puerto Rico, they have successfully integrated a state-of-the-art CO2 recovery system that purifies and liquefies the CO2 from the RNG tail gas. This proven process creates two distinct revenue streams from the same molecule of biogenic CO2:

  • New Product Sales: We can get you producing a food-grade Liquid Carbon Dioxide (LCO2), a premium product in high demand by the beverage, food processing, and industrial markets. This stream can range in value from $175/MT to over $500/MT.
  • Federal Tax Credits: The new Section 45Q tax credit now provides $85 per metric ton for captured biogenic CO2 that is sold for commercial use. This credit can be taken as a direct cash payment from the IRS for the first five years, providing a powerful boost to your project's cash flow.
  • Proven Performance: Venture doesn’t just engineer it; they build, integrate and operate it. Their first project site is a 25 MTPD (Metric Tons Per Day) system installed at the Humacao LFG to RNG plant. This RNG plant is scheduled to be fully commissioned and achieve COD by Christmas 2025.
  • Purity Assurance: Through commissioning testing, the process has proven the ability to produce LCO2 that meets or exceeds the stringent purity standards for the food and beverage industry.
  • Oxidation Catalyst: The Key to Purity The critical step in producing food-grade CO2 is the complete destruction of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), non-methane hydrocarbons (NMOCs), and any residual methane slip. Venture’s designs include their best-in-class Siloxane/NMOC removal system prior to CO2 separation to remove 90%+ of unwanted VOCs from the biogas. The CO2 tail gas stream is then directed to the LCO2 process that starts with compression followed by a high-temperature oxidation catalyst, as the heart of the process, engineered specifically for the challenges of biogas, specifically landfill gas. It ensures that trace contaminants are catalytically destroyed, guaranteeing a final LCO2 product that is pure, odorless, and free from hydrocarbons that could create off-flavors in consumer products.
  • A Seamless, Turnkey Solution Venture Engineering & Construction, Inc. provides a complete, turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) solution to integrate a CO2 Recovery System into your new or existing biogas upgrading facility.

Solution Strengths, Weaknesses and Critical Indicators

Anaerobic Digester Associated Technology:

NOTE: There are several technology types that are used as part of an integrated manure management system that includes an anaerobic digester and are not applicable to manure management in other cases. The impact of these technologies on the critical indicators are represented as those of an entire anaerobic digester system.

  • Long usable life and can be run reliably
  • Creates energy and generates environmental credits
  • Requires proper preparation of the feedstock
  • Requires other technologies for energy utilization
  • Requires other technologies for digestate handling
  • Proper feeding & system monitoring is required to avoid system downtime
  • Proven technology for odor control, GHG reduction and pathogen reduction
