Western Environmental Liner – Lagoon Liner

A division of Western Ag. Enterprises, Inc

About the Company:

Western Environmental Liner was created in 2002 by Western Ag Enterprises Inc., which has been in the fabric manufacturing industry since 1984. Western Environmental Liner Specializes in the production of custom fabricated geomembrane linings for all types of applications.

Liner materials include Reinforced Polyethylene, Reinforced Polypropylene, PVCs, Xr5 and Potable drinking water certificated products. They have high UV and puncture resistance and are guaranteed to last over 20 years.

About the Solution:

Lagoon liners have become a requirement for many farms & dairies. The proper liner allows for the containment of manure and run off of agricultural waste without contaminating the land. In some cases, with proper containment and systems in place, lagoon liners can also allow for reuse of manure for renewable energy.

Knowing which liner to use for a lagoon liner can often be a daunting process. The correct choice may depend on several different factors: In which state and county is the lagoon located? What is the age of the dairy or farm? How large is the lagoon?

In many instances Western Environmental Liner has worked with the NRCS & EPDA to understand the requirements in a particular area to ensure all regulations are met with the lagoon liner they provide. They also assist environmental engineers to help them understand what type of liner will work and to help assist with any penetrations such as pipes that may be involved with the lagoon.

They also provide installation of their liners and have several service locations across the country. Additionally, they can review blueprints to ensure the lagoon liner is designed to fit with minimal waste and provide a more affordable installation by our crew or another.

Western Environmental Liner will help ensure that the correct liner is being used to help provide the best value in each situation. Their Reinforced Polypropylene is the most common recommendation for a lagoon liner. It has excellent leak resistance with a highly formulated thick coating which provides excellent abrasion resistance and weld strength. The scrim (thread) in their Reinforced Polypropylene provides excellent tear & puncture resistance as well. Although this is the liner of choice in many cases, Western Environmental Liner provides dozens of options such as LLDPE & PVC to ensure whatever regulations are required they can be met at the most affordable cost.

Western Environmental Liner’s parent company, Western AG Enterprises specializes in agriculture, providing many services throughout the nation for the agriculture industry so they understand the unique needs of dairies and farms.

Solution Strengths, Weaknesses and Critical Indicators

NOTE: There are multiple technologies that are used as part of integrated manure management systems and yet are not manure management types on their own. The impact of these technologies on their own would be minimal or very difficult to quantify.

General Support & Other:

  • Can be an integral part of many manure management systems
  • Most projects have at least some equipment that supports operations of the main technology
  • This technology is not evaluated on its own, the NEAT Matrix for this technology is neutral unless utilized with other technologies.
