About the Solution:

BGX BiostreamTM: Introducing Xebec’s New Biogas Upgrading Solution

Biogas projects have been taking off all over the world. Despite the growing number of projects, small-scale plants still have limited options. Most available systems are simply not viable for farms, small biogas plants that process agricultural and industrial organic wastes, wastewater treatment plants, smaller municipalities, etc.

Xebec’s BGX BiostreamTM biogas upgrading solution offers one of the most reliable and low-cost performance systems on the market, a system that meets the needs of small-scale biogas upgrading plants, while incorporating all of Xebec’s PSA benefits.

Every BGX BiostreamTM is packaged into a specially-modified ISO shipping container. It is suitable for flows between 55 to 280 SCFM (90 to 450 NCMH), enabling the conversion of biogas to 97+% pure biomethane, with 98.5+% methane recovery. By incorporating technology that automates the biogas upgrading and maintenance processes, Xebec’s BGX Biostream™ is scalable and delivers reliable, high-performance results with 20+ years lifetime reliability, which translates into the lowest life-cycle cost in the industry.

A typical 5,000-cow dairy digester with Xebec’s Biostream™ gas upgrading technology can remove over 3,000 tons of CO2 per year – which is the equivalent of the CO2 emissions from over 3 million gallons of gasoline per year from over 5,000 cars.

The BGX Biostream™ incorporates Xebec’s core technologies: Xebec’s proprietary rotary valve and highly efficient adsorbent; technologies that set this system apart from other biogas upgrading solutions. The fast-cycle rotary valve automatically adjusts to any change in feed impurity level to keep the BGX Biostream™ always running to maximize profitability.

Built with a “Press start and go” mindset, the BGX Biostream™ is simple, flexible, and scalable. The modularized, skidded, and fully containerized units are quick and easy to install, usually up and running in less than 10 days, have a small footprint, allow minimal maintenance, and come with fully automated processes. Also, the BGX Biostream™ adapts to growing production levels. The BGX Biostream+™ contains a second PSA to process flows from 55 to 280 SCFM (90 to 450 NCMH).

What’s best is that clients can opt for after-sales service plan for added peace of mind. You can have it all – Installation, monitoring and maintenance services from Xebec’s network across North America. With offices on the East & West Coast, clients now have access to Xebec’s engineers who are stationed near each plant for fast and reliable service.

Xebec’s main objective is to offer solutions with the lowest life-cycle cost and the best CAPEX/OPEX ratio, in order to maximize revenues AND meet their clients’ goals to contribute to the worldwide investment in clean energy.

Solution Strengths, Weaknesses and Critical Indicators

Anaerobic Digester Associated Technology:

NOTE: There are several technology types that are used as part of an integrated manure management system that includes an anaerobic digester and are not applicable to manure management in other cases. The impact of these technologies on the critical indicators are represented as those of an entire anaerobic digester system.

  • Long usable life and can be run reliably
  • Creates energy and generates environmental credits
  • Requires proper preparation of the feedstock
  • Requires other technologies for energy utilization
  • Requires other technologies for digestate handling
  • Proper feeding & system monitoring is required to avoid system downtime
  • Proven technology for odor control, GHG reduction and pathogen reduction
